The Gutor Virtual Classroom is an immersive 3D and VR training environment built for engineers learning to install, operate, and service Gutor’s industrial systems. Modelled after Gutor’s Switzerland facility, it combines a virtual classroom, a System configurator, and AR-ready models into a single web-based & VR platform.
The Switzerland classroom was recreated in 3D with accurate proportions and material detail, while every UPS system was optimised for web and AR — preserving engineering precision without sacrificing load speed. The configurator runs on the Sketchfab API, with textures and AR assets served through AWS S3.
The platform gives engineers multiple ways to learn. A 3D configurator opens each system and inspects its internal components, with annotations explaining every part. Users can launch any system into augmented reality at true scale, or step into the classroom in virtual reality, interacting naturally through hand controls.
Every layer of the interface is designed around clarity, technical accuracy, and ease of use. The responsive UI adapts seamlessly across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices, while the spatial UI in VR adheres to established XR usability principles for comfortable, intuitive interaction.
The Gutor Virtual Classroom shows how immersive web technology — WebGL, Three.js, WebXR, and spatial computing – can transform industrial training and product education. It unites 3D visualisation, AR previewing, and VR-based learning into a single platform, demonstrating that complex engineering systems can be taught faster, more visually, and more memorably online.
